Base oils in lubricants as the main component
Petroleum oils are associated with good solubility of soap thickeners.
White mineral base oils, which are more highly refined, typically provide better oxidation stability and help qualify the grease for NSF H1 registration.
Synthetic base oils, the most popular of which is polyalphaolefin (PAO), provide increased thermal stability and low-temperature performance.
Other types of base oils found in lubricants may include biodegradable esters, which can be used in environmentally safe lubricants.
Types of lubricants according to the Base Oil Technology used:
- Ester-based greases
- Silicone Greases
- Fluorosilicone greases
- Fluorinated Lubricants (PFPE) based on Perfluoropolyether
- Anti-seize lubricating pastes
- Anti-friction coatings and organic binder gas solvents
- Polyurethane Greases Based on Polyisobutene
- Solid lubricants - Lubricating powders
