LOCTITE 268 - 15g Stick
A hard-to-break anaerobic threadlocker. It is supplied in a stick form in a non-drip, semi-solid wax consistency.

Anaerobic adhesive cures in the absence of air when confined between close-fitting metal surfaces. It develops permanent strength and can
be used on a variety of metal substrates. It is particularly well suited for applications where the liquid product may run off the part or may be difficult to apply. It is easy to store and apply,
ensures even surface coverage.
Applications Usage
Perfect for parts that are subject to vibration and will be dismantled in the future
- mounting screws
- nuts
- threads
- e.g. stainless steel, aluminum and plated surfaces
Features and Benefits
- Convenient stick format prevents dripping
- High strength of the adhesive bond
- Prevents self-loosening of parts subject to vibration, such as pump, gearbox or press mounting bolts
- Works on all metals, including passive substrates (e.g. stainless steel, aluminum and plated surfaces)
- Can be dismantled after heating to 300°C.

TYPICAL CURING PROCESS
The curing speed depends on the material used
Curing speed depending on temperature
The curing speed depends on the ambient temperature.
Curing speed depending on activator
When the cure speed is unacceptably slow due to large gaps, the application of an activator to the surface may improve it. However, this may reduce
the ultimate strength of the joint and therefore it is recommended to carry out tests.
GENERAL INFORMATION
This product is not recommended for use in pure oxygen and/or oxygen rich systems and should not be used in systems with chlorine or other materials
strongly oxidizing.
This product is generally not recommended for use on plastics (especially thermoplastics which are prone to stress cracking)
Installation
- To achieve the best bonding results, clean all surfaces (external and internal) with LOCTITE® remover and allow them to dry.
dry. - Only apply as much product as needed for application.
- Any skin that may have formed on the product should be removed.
- Apply enough product to fill the thread where the cap will be screwed on.
- Close the packaging after use.
- Assemble the connector and tighten as required.
Dismantling
- When hand tools are not sufficient due to elongated types of joints or their larger diameters (over 1"), they should be heated locally to approx. 250
°C and dismantle while hot.
Cleaning
- Cured product can be removed using LOCTITE® solvent.
or by mechanical means, e.g. with a wire brush
Storage
Unless otherwise indicated on the product label, the ideal way to store it is in closed containers in a cool, dry place.
Optimum storage temperature: +8°C to +21°C.
Storage at temperatures below +8°C or above +28°C may irreversibly change the properties of the product.
