DOWSIL™ 813C Construction & Concrete Silicone

What is Dowsil 813 construction and concrete silicone?

One-component, neutral-curing construction silicone for porous surfaces.

A low modulus silicone sealant, particularly suitable for interior and exterior applications, in particular exterior weather seals, expansion joints, perimeter joints in buildings and other types of construction.

  • Indoor and outdoor applications
  • External weather seals
  • Expansion joints and circumferential joints in buildings and other structures,
  • Joints in footpaths and communication routes
  • Sealing of sidewalks and roads in places that are not exposed to fuel flooding

    Features and Benefits:

    • Adhesion to Brick, Concrete, Glass, Masonry, Metal, Polyester Powder coated Aluminium/Steel, Vinyl/PVC-U, Wood
    • Excellent weather resistance - virtually insensitive to sunlight, rain, snow, ozone and extremes
    • tensile/compressive joint displacement capacity ± 50% of joint width
    • Temperature resistance from -40°C to 149°C
    • Good adhesion without priming to various substrates
    • Resistant to ozone, ultraviolet radiation and extreme temperatures
    • Neutral curing with titanium (Ti) catalyst
    • low odor, easy to apply and process
    • compliant with PN-EN ISO 11600-F&G-20LM

    How to use

    Substrate preparation

The surfaces to be sealed should be clean, dry, stable and degreased. Before applying the sealant, clean non-porous surfaces with DOWSIL™ R-40 Universal Cleaner and dry thoroughly with a clean, lint-free cloth. Porous materials such as concrete, brick, mortar, etc. should be mechanically cleaned of loose particles using a wire brush, grinding wheel or similar methods.

    Masking. Securing

Masking tape should be used in areas adjacent to joints to protect materials from contamination and to ensure a straight seal contour. The masking tape must be removed immediately after the joint is finished.

Primers are not usually required, but may be recommended on certain surfaces for the best adhesion.

    Finish Curing time

The applied sealant should be machined within 5 minutes of application to ensure good contact between sealant and material. The joint treatment also gives it a smooth, professional look.

Uncured excess sealant can be removed from tools and non-porous surfaces with DOWSIL™ R-40 Universal Cleaner. If the sealant is improperly applied to a porous material, allow it to cure, then remove it by peeling, cutting, or other mechanical means. Avoid damaging plastic or coated surfaces.

    Connector design

The width of the sealing joint should take into account the possibility of movement of the sealant. When forming a joint with DOWSIL™ 813C Construction and Concrete Silicone Sealant, the minimum width should be 6 mm. For joints 6-12 mm wide, the required sealing depth is 6 mm. For joints with a width of more than 12 mm, it is recommended to maintain a 2:1 ratio between width and depth. If a fillet joint is required, it is recommended that a minimum of 6mm of sealant be applied to each surface. For connectors wider than 25mm or deeper than 15mm, please contact your local technical office.
