EVIL ROYAL BLUE MINERAL OIL

ROYAL BLUE is a highly refined mineral oil used as a working fluid in bicycle hydraulic brake systems. The product has been optimized for thermal stability, rheological properties, and long-term resistance to oxidative degradation.

In a hydraulic system, the oil is responsible for the incompressible transfer of force from the brake lever to the caliper pistons. The quality and physicochemical parameters of the fluid directly affect:

  • the speed of pressure build-up,
  • the bite point and lever firmness,
  • operating stability under prolonged load,
  • resistance to gas bubble formation (cavitation),
  • bleeding efficiency.

The ROYAL BLUE formula has been developed to achieve enhanced temperature parameters compared to standard oils used by brake manufacturers, increasing the system's resistance to overheating under intensive use (e.g., long MTB descents).

Parameter Unit Value
Kinematic viscosity (40°C) mm²/s 7,5
Flash point °C 154
Pour point °C -39
Boiling point °C 304
Density (20°C) g/ml 0,81

Kinematic viscosity – 7.5 mm²/s (40°C)

Reduced viscosity at 40°C affects:

  • reduced flow resistance in small-diameter hydraulic lines,
  • faster caliper piston response,
  • more dynamic pressure build-up,
  • easier and more effective system bleeding.

At the same time, the viscosity is maintained at a level that ensures the stability of the fluid film and proper brake force modulation characteristics.

Boiling point – 304°C

A high boiling point indicates increased resistance of the medium to transition into the gas phase. Under intense heating of the caliper (friction of pads against the rotor), heat can transfer to the hydraulic fluid. An elevated boiling point threshold:

  • reduces the risk of vapor bubble formation,
  • decreases the probability of a "spongy lever",
  • stabilizes system operation during prolonged descents.

This parameter is higher than in many standard mineral oils factory-filled by brake manufacturers.

Pour point – -39°C

A low pour point allows the system to operate in extremely low temperatures without an increase in viscosity leading to a "stiffening" of the lever. The fluid maintains fluidity and flow properties in winter conditions.

Flash point – 154°C

This parameter defines the minimum temperature at which fluid vapors can ignite. This value ensures safe storage and use in workshop and operational conditions.

Density – 0.81 g/ml (20°C)

Lower density promotes:

  • faster migration of air bubbles during bleeding,
  • efficient medium flow in the lines,
  • reduced inertia of fluid mass in micro-hydraulic systems.

Operating properties

  • enhanced thermal stability,
  • high resistance to oxidation and degradation,
  • limited susceptibility to foaming,
  • protection of metal components against corrosion,
  • compatibility with elastomers designed for mineral systems,
  • long-term maintenance of parameters during use.

Application

  • hydraulic disc brakes for MTB, enduro, DH, trekking, and road bikes,
  • hydraulic system service,
  • replacement and topping up of working fluid.

Product intended exclusively for systems using mineral oil.
