Shell Tellus S2 VX provides excellent device protection and performance over a wide temperature range. Thanks to its excellent viscosity control under heavy mechanical loads and over a wide temperature range, it can be used in most mobile devices and other applications where a wide range of ambient and operating temperatures is involved.

    Hydraulic systems and drives operating in a wide range of temperatures. Shell Tellus S2 VX's high viscosity index provides easy starting at low temperatures and improves full load operation in severe conditions.
  • Precision hydraulic systems
    Precision hydraulic systems require excellent stability of hydraulic fluid viscosity throughout the entire operating cycle. Shell Tellus S2 VX exhibits much higher viscosity-temperature stability compared to ISO HM fluids, which helps improve system performance.
  • Hydraulic systems in the marine industry
    Suitable for use in the marine industry where ISO HV grade oils are recommended.

    • Long drain intervals - lower maintenance costs
      Shell Tellus S2 VX offers significant drain intervals due to its high resistance to thermal and chemical degradation. This minimizes the formation of deposits and sludge, ensuring the reliability and cleanliness of hydraulic systems. Shell Tellus S2 VX exhibits very good stability in the presence of water, giving it a long life
      and prevents corrosion and rusting of system components operating in highly humid environments. Shear-resistant viscosity modifiers reduce the viscosity change of the oil over its lifetime.
    • Outstanding wear protection
      Shell Tellus S2 VX meets the demanding requirements of modern hydraulic systems, including improved anti-wear performance in the FZG test (FLS 11 at ISO 32 viscosity). In addition, the use of Tellus S2 VX oil extends component life, as evidenced by the excellent results obtained in tests with Eaton Vickers 35VQ25 and Denison T6H20C pumps (dry and wet).
    • Efficient operation of systems
      Excellent filterability, very good water separation, air release and high resistance to foam ensure that the efficiency of hydraulic systems is maintained or improved. Optimized friction characteristics reduce the occurrence of harmful stick-slip vibrations. Cleanliness of 20/18/15 or higher according to ISO 4406 (when filled) reduces the possibility of filter contamination and blockage, allowing for extended filter change intervals and enhanced device protection. Shell Tellus S2 VX is formulated to provide excellent foam control and rapid air release, facilitating efficient power transfer and significantly eliminating cavitation, which increases oil oxidation reducing oil life.

    Compatibility and mixability

    • Compatibility
      Shell Tellus S2 VX can be used in most hydraulic pumps.
    • Compatibility with oils
      Shell Tellus S2 VX is compatible with most mineral based hydraulic fluids. However, hydraulic oils of different grades should not be mixed (e.g. biodegradable oils, flame retardant oils).
    • Compatibility with seals and paints
      Shell Tellus S2 VX is compatible with paints and sealants intended for use with mineral oil.

    Work safety and environmental protection

    Shell Tellus S2 VX does not pose a direct health risk when properly used for its intended purpose and with personal and industrial hygiene. Avoid skin contact. Use protective gloves. In case of skin contact, wash off the oil with soap and water.
